π³π¬ 2024 Paralympic: Nigeria's Flora Ugwunwa wins Silver in Javelin
Nigeria's Flora Ugwunwa has achieved remarkable success at the ongoing Paris 2024 Paralympic Games by winning a silver medal in the women’s Javelin F54 event. Her impressive performance included a throw of 19.26 meters, which secured her second place in this highly competitive category.
Ugwunwa’s achievement is significant as it marks Nigeria’s first medal in the women’s Javelin category at the Paralympics and contributes to Team Nigeria’s overall medal tally, which now stands at four medals: one gold, two silvers, and two bronzes.
She finished behind Uzbekistan's Nurkhon Kurbanova, who won the gold medal with a throw of 21.12m. Iran's Elham Salehi won bronze with a distance of 16.24m.
This victory also highlights Ugwunwa’s consistency as she has now won three consecutive Paralympic medals—two golds from Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2021, along with her recent silver in Paris.
Onyinyechi Mark, Eniola Bolaji, and Esther Nworgu have all won medals for Team Nigeria.
